They help maintain ecosystem balance by controlling pests, dispersing seeds and pollinating plants. They feature prominently in art, folklore and culture and are a source of inspiration for millions of people around the globe.

Birds symbolise freedom, the soul and hope, with different birds representing different meanings - doves for peace and purity, eagles embodying strength and owls symbolising wisdom and mystery.

Many have striking physical characteristics with vibrant feather colours, fascinating mating rituals and behaviours, and many have beautiful songs. And of course, they have the power of flight, causing uniquely serious human envy.

But most importantly, and quite simply - they’re beautiful!
